Mercedes has been writing songs on her acoustic guitar since she was a pre-teen. ​Influenced by bands like the Smashing Pumpkins, Veruca Salt and Nirvana, the "Mercedes Brown Sound" is a throwback to a time when music mattered more than image.

Mercedes is from the Wet'suwet'en Nation (Witset) on her grandmothers side & Tsimshian Nation on her grandfathers side, and of the Tsayu (Beaver) clan. With the help of family, she is connecting with her culture and language and incorporating that into song.

Mercedes is as confident on stage as she is in the studio, with live performances as a solo artist, duo or with her bandmates.
